OK, have to drive from Needles to Monument Valley? Do not take the fast route, but choose to see the most wonderful views from State Hwy 95/261 (UT). Just before Maxican Hat you arrive to the edge of Cedar Mesa for a GRAND view. Driving down from the mesa itself is most rewarding and just a few kilometers before Mexican Hat visiting Goose Neck is a must. Mexican Hat is a good palce to overnight to later attack Monument Valley just a few tens of kilometers away. Early morning start and you see the Valley in the morning sun.
