In July 2007 I had an opportunity to make a long 8500 km drive from Denver (CO) to Bozeman (MO), then through Wyoming and Utah down to Grand Canyon (AZ), and from there up to Los Alamos (NM) and back to Denver. Aim was to see and photograph rocks and desert colors and to "enjoy heat". Sure, July is not the month of desert colors. This was no problem, but unfortunately fires in Utah diminished the visibility and made most long distance photos somewhat lame. The first ten subpages below show panoramas; pages 11-28 have a comprehensive collection of tourist shots of rocks. Please, keep in mind that the aim was rocks and NOT normal vacation photography. Thus photos of people, everyday life and "infrastructures" are missing. Original photos are from a 10 Mpxl camera. Panoramas are typically 2500x7000 pxl^2 while some are up to 42 000 pxls wide. Remember to zoom browser to blow up the panoramas to their full web size (766 pxls high). Also contact sheets are posted showing all images available. |
